hoo-eeee... Blind faith apparently knows no bounds.

Either that or I missed something.

Chris, I kind of thought everyone would have their own take on it. If yours is "blind faith," that makes sense to me.

Mostly, it was a bit of a shock to me, as used as I am to thinking of the Bush administration as an unmitigated disaster, to be reminded that for some people, this is just the ticket.

Thre is a strong thread of authoritarianism among a number of conservatives; there have been some really interesting articles published on the subject and I've wanted to blog about it for some time, but it would be a complicated post to write and I just haven't had the time or energy to do it. But certainly for authoritarian personalities, in many ways the last six years has been a bit of Nirvana. Though of course they would never use a non-Christian metaphor like that to describe it.

Of course there are non-Christian authoritarians. But since a big part of that personality type is submission to traditional authority, in this country such personalities do tend to be strong defenders of what they consider to be Christianity.

Anyway, I don't want to start writing that post just now! And of course the link has to do with other things besides simple authoritarianism.

Reading that, I recall in the very beginning of Bush's presidency, the questioning of his competency. Then it seemed it wouldn't be as bad as feared. All this pre 9/11. Reading that article, I was thinking, there are worse things in a president than being incompetant.

I thought maybe at first it was some sort of attempt at sarcastic humor that died on the vine... but the statement fell flat. It was also unsubstantiated and purely emotional- so it must be simply someone too confused by the facts to drift very far from their default programming.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on Authoritarianism whenever you get time to organize them.
