An updated Hint From Heloise: Candle Wax on Carpet
THEN: Towel and iron
NOW: Ice and a metal pan
Put ice cubes into a metal pan. Place it right on top of the candle wax until the wax is frozen solid. With a small hammer, hit the wax to break it up. Pick up the pieces. Then apply dry-cleaning solvent on a clean cloth to remove any leftover residue.
Do this, then explain why Mikey is walking around with a purple-tinged foot.

Care to explain how candlewax got on the carpet in the first place? There's a story there ;-)

Chris, I don't exactly know how it happened. I was sitting at the computer; the candle had been on the file cabinet next to me for several hours, so there was lots of melted wax in it. Suddenly Mikey landed in the middle of everything, more or less clearing off the file cabinet and dousing everything within a couple feet in hot wax. I thought he had just knocked the candle over with everything else, and yelled at him and chased him out of the room. It was only hours later that I saw his whole rear right foot was coated in wax up to the ankle. So it must have really burned, and I felt bad for yelling at him.
But maybe he'll think twice next time, right? What am I saying, he's a cat.
Andrea, yes, Mikey is a real cutie.
