iTunes 1-word, part II
The rule: search your iTunes library for one word, then post the list. (For the first time I posted about this, go here)
When I input the keyword “seven,” I get seven songs:
Seven Days / Azure Ray
The Magnificent Seven / The Clash
Seven Virgins / Jimmie Spheeris
Seven Years / Norah Jones
Seven Veils / Peter Murphy
Seven Year Ache / Rosanne Cash
Goodbye Seventies / Yaz
The first one is not one of Azure Ray’s better songs and the last one’s the worst song Yaz ever did, but other than it’s a pretty interesting list. At least, I thought so.

Continuing with the numerical theme didn't work out quite so tidily for me: "nine" brought me four songs.

That's pretty cool, Elle. I'm not familiar with most of those artists, except for the Old 97s. Are they mostly alt-country?

Not really - Red 40 is punk/indie rock; it was one of Ben Nichols' bands prior to Lucero. Drive-By Truckers is more Southern Rock than alt-country (I'm pretty sure your missus has some of their stuff in her iTunes collection - ask her to share ;-) ). Cory Branan is a singer-songwriter; Billboard called him the John Prine of his generation. Not a bad description. I discovered him through a reference in a Lucero song (in "Tears Don't Matter Much", Ben sings, "Cory Branan's got a way with words that'll bring you to your knees"). He doesn't have anywhere near the audience he deserves. Check him out - I think both of his albums are still being streamed from his website: CoryBranan.com.
By the way, I like this meme so much I posted another one here.
