I can’t explain it. In some indefinable and entirely personal way, to me this song feels like the time we’re living in. Like, if my life were a movie, this would be the soundtrack kicking the action along—something about this song resonates strongly with the way I have felt about the world the last few months. Your mileage will vary, I’m sure.

Pat Metheny has done a number of songs that have been really important to me; he’s also done a lot of stuff I could care less about. Which is the same way I feel about most jazz, I guess. I’ve tried several times to listen to the rest of this CD, with no luck. This song, though, has haunted me from the first time I heard it. So here you go—tell me what you think.

So, does this thing work?

Checking to see that double returns give you a new paragraph, and also whether typing a URL like http://www.largelypro.com gives you a link.

Now how much would you pay?

Rockin'. Pat Metheny always took me there with '(Cross The) Heartland' from the 'Works' CD. I never owned a whole lot of his stuff, but enjoyed his style nonetheless. I appreciate a virtuoso guitarist who doesn't go over the line with his technical ability and end up drowning out the emotional content. John McLaughlin makes for good listening, too. Thanks for the interesting new section- I'll definitely be visiting and posting in the future...
